KUALA LUMPUR, 2026 — What happens when the legendary wisdom of Zhuge Liang is transported more than a thousand years into the modern corporate world?

Astro Originals’ latest Chinese-language drama “WOLONG: The Mastermind” (《卧龙》) is set to answer that question when it premieres on 6 September 2026, airing every Sunday at 9.30PM on Astro AEC (Channel 306), Astro GO, On Demand and sooka.

Ahead of the official premiere, members of the cast gathered in Kuala Lumpur for the drama’s press conference, where they shared stories from filming, memorable behind-the-scenes moments and their experiences bringing this ambitious time-travelling corporate thriller to life.

Present at the event were Mimi Kung 龔慈恩, Kevin Chu 朱鑑然, Chris Tong 童缤毓, Karena Teo 张惠虹, Ribbon Ooi 黄若熙, Huang Qiming 黄启铭, Juztin Lan 刘界辉, Eric Chen 陈沛江, April Chan 周雪婷 and Li Min Yi 李珉毅, alongside director Ernest Chong 张顺源.

Members of the media were also given an early look at the drama’s first episode.

A Modern Battlefield Inspired by the Three Kingdoms

“WOLONG: The Mastermind” combines time travel, Three Kingdoms mythology, suspense, family politics and modern corporate warfare, transforming ancient military strategies into weapons for a completely different kind of battlefield.

The story begins during the legendary Battle of Red Cliffs, where strategist Zhuge Liang 诸葛亮, portrayed by Kevin Chu 朱鑑然, is unexpectedly transported into the modern era.

His consciousness awakens inside Zhu Yongming 朱勇鸣 (Leon), also known as Ah Ming — a heavily indebted young man whose life has fallen apart.

Once dismissed by those around him as an irresponsible gambler, Ah Ming eventually finds himself entering a major food and beverage corporation. Armed with Zhuge Liang’s strategic thinking, ability to read people and centuries-old military wisdom, he begins manoeuvring his way through one corporate crisis after another.

However, the modern business world quickly proves to be just as dangerous as an ancient battlefield.

His journey brings him into the complicated power struggle involving the influential Lin family, particularly the family’s three daughters, while the mysterious death of their elder brother Lin Ruoheng 林若衡 (Ethan) gradually becomes another key piece of the puzzle.

As alliances shift and personal ambitions surface, the drama sets the stage for a battle of intelligence stretching across two different eras.

Three Regions, One Ensemble Cast

The production brings together performers from Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, including veteran Hong Kong actress Mimi Kung 龔慈恩, Hong Kong actor Kevin Chu 朱鑑然, Singapore veteran actress Chen Liping 陈莉萍, and a strong line-up of Malaysian talents.

Mimi Kung 龔慈恩 plays Lin Min 林敏 (Catherine), the powerful head of the Lin Group.

Although Catherine presents herself as a capable businesswoman and caring mother, she is also highly controlling, suspicious and ruthless when dealing with potential betrayal. The character carries qualities reminiscent of Cao Cao — ambitious, calculating and determined to maintain control.

Meanwhile, Kevin Chu 朱鑑然 portrays Zhu Yongming 朱勇鸣 (Leon), who becomes the modern-day vessel for Zhuge Liang. Following the time-travelling incident, Leon inherits the legendary strategist’s calmness, intelligence and instinct for reading people, though he struggles with modern technology, contemporary relationships and the values of a society completely unfamiliar to him.

Chris Tong 童缤毓 portrays eldest daughter Lin Ruoxi 林若曦 (Grace), an ambitious perfectionist determined to reform the family business, while Karena Teo 张惠虹 plays second daughter Lin Ruoqi 林若琪 (Elena), whose gentle personality hides a carefully calculated desire for power.

The youngest sister, Lin Ruoyun 林若昀 (Zoey), portrayed by Ribbon Ooi 黄若熙, appears outspoken and impulsive, yet also possesses her own ambitions within the family’s escalating succession battle.

Among the other key figures is Wang Xianglin 王翔霖 (Sunny), portrayed by Melvin Sia 谢佳见, who becomes the vessel for another legendary Three Kingdoms strategist — Zhou Yu 周瑜 — setting up an inevitable intellectual confrontation with Zhuge Liang.

Singapore veteran actress Chen Liping 陈莉萍 portrays Madam Zhao 赵太 (Wang Yinghua 王颖华), while Huang Qiming 黄启铭 plays the Lin family’s eldest son, Lin Ruoheng 林若衡 (Ethan), whose mysterious death becomes one of the drama’s central mysteries.

Juztin Lan 刘界辉 plays Ah Ming’s childhood friend and housemate Liu Xiaobei 刘小北, a carefree computer expert who remains one of his most dependable allies.

Kevin Chu 朱鑑然 Turns Into the Cast’s Resident “Troublemaker”

While his character carries the legendary composure and intelligence of Zhuge Liang, Kevin Chu 朱鑑然 apparently showed a completely different personality once the cameras stopped rolling.

During the press conference, his fellow cast members jokingly described him as one of the production’s biggest sources of mischief.

Ribbon Ooi 黄若熙 even revealed that she would sometimes call him a “monkey” because he was constantly moving around and entertaining everyone on set.

Chris Tong 童缤毓 joked that despite his playful behaviour, there were still several senior actors whom he would not dare to “bully”.

Kevin admitted that he particularly enjoyed disturbing Mimi Kung 龔慈恩 between takes, although the veteran actress often responded to his antics with an unimpressed glance.

The Hong Kong actor also spent around two months in Malaysia during filming and developed a strong appreciation for local food — particularly roti canai, earning himself the playful title of the production’s unofficial “Roti Canai Ambassador”.

After watching the first episode together with members of the media, Kevin appeared relieved by the final result and enthusiastically praised the episode before expressing his appreciation to director Ernest Chong 张顺源.

Karena Teo 张惠虹 Faced One Particularly Challenging Scene

For Karena Teo 张惠虹, returning to television drama brought another challenge.

Her character Elena shares an intimate scene with Kevin Chu’s character, and the actress revealed that she had spent considerable time thinking about whether she should take on the sequence after first reading the script.

She eventually discussed the scene and its boundaries carefully with director Ernest Chong 张顺源 before agreeing to proceed.

During the press conference, Karena jokingly described herself as taking quite a risk by accepting the role and admitted that she would probably avoid letting her daughter watch that particular sequence.

She also shared that working opposite Chris Tong 童缤毓 initially felt intimidating because Grace’s strong personality translated into an equally intense screen presence.

Familiar Faces Reunite

The production also reunited Eric Chen 陈沛江 with Mimi Kung 龔慈恩 after more than a decade. The pair share an emotionally intense confrontation in the drama, and Eric praised the veteran actress for her professionalism and experience, saying that he benefited from the guidance she offered during filming.

Meanwhile, April Chan 周雪婷 highlighted one emotional scene opposite Kevin Chu 朱鑑然 as particularly memorable. She shared that Kevin’s performance gave her a sense of security during the scene and helped her become more comfortable emotionally.

Her on-screen partner Juztin Lan 刘界辉 immediately responded with playful jealousy, prompting laughter from those attending the press conference.

Filming in Hengdian Brings the Three Kingdoms Era to Life

To give the historical portions of the drama greater scale and authenticity, the production travelled to Hengdian World Studios in China for location filming. The team worked across military camps, traditional residences and full-scale warships to recreate elements of the Three Kingdoms period.

One of the production’s largest sequences is the Battle of Red Cliffs, which combines physical ship sets with AI-assisted visual effects. By blending large-scale practical environments with modern visual technology, the production aims to create a cinematic transition between the ancient battlefield and the contemporary corporate world.

Huang Qiming 黄启铭 also praised the production’s visual presentation after viewing the opening episode, joking that seeing his character’s enlarged memorial portrait on the big screen was unexpectedly frightening.

Director Ernest Chong 张顺源, who is making his television drama directorial debut, expressed confidence in the series and revealed during the event that editing had already progressed through several episodes.

Juztin Lan 刘界辉 and Danson Wong 黄得昇 Perform “宿敌”

Music also plays an important role in the drama. The official theme song, “宿敌”, is performed by actor-singer Juztin Lan 刘界辉 together with Danson Wong 黄得昇, champion of Astro’s 《新秀 崛起吧！2026》.

Their contrasting vocal styles create a sense of confrontation and tension that complements the story’s themes of rivalry, destiny and competing ambitions. The song was specially crafted to reflect the relationships between the drama’s characters and the continuous battle between power, emotion and fate.

“WOLONG: The Mastermind” Premieres 6 September

With ancient military philosophy meeting contemporary corporate politics, “WOLONG: The Mastermind” introduces a different interpretation of the Three Kingdoms legends while maintaining the intrigue of a modern family and business drama.

The series consists of 13 episodes and premieres on 6 September 2026, airing every Sunday at 9.30PM.

吉隆坡，2026年8月24日 —— 如果千年前的诸葛亮突然穿越现代，他所熟悉的兵法谋略，能否在尔虞我诈的现代商场继续派上用场？

Astro Originals全新中文穿越权谋悬疑剧《卧龙》（WOLONG: The Mastermind）即将在2026年9月6日正式开播，每逢星期日晚上9时30分，通过Astro AEC（频道306）、Astro GO、On Demand及sooka同步播出。

配合新剧即将登场，《卧龙》日前在吉隆坡举行首播记者会，一众主要演员齐聚现场，与媒体分享拍摄过程、角色心得以及各种幕后的趣事。

当天出席演员包括Mimi龔慈恩、Kevin朱鑑然、Chris童缤毓、Karena张惠虹、Ribbon黄若熙、黄启铭、Juztin刘界辉、Eric陈沛江、April周雪婷及李珉毅，导演张顺源也现身与大家见面。

现场媒体更率先欣赏了剧集第一集，一窥这部结合三国元素与现代商战的原创剧集。

三国兵法搬到现代职场

《卧龙》大胆结合穿越、三国传说、悬疑、家族斗争与现代商战，把原本属于古代战场的用兵之道，搬到瞬息万变的现代企业世界。 故事由经典的赤壁之战展开。由朱鑑然饰演的一代军师诸葛亮，在一场异变后意外穿越至现代，并附身到人生几近失控的青年朱勇鸣（Leon／阿鸣）身上。

原本的阿鸣债务缠身，更因为嗜赌而遭身边人嫌弃。 然而，当拥有诸葛亮智慧的“新阿鸣”阴差阳错进入大型餐饮集团后，他开始凭借千年前的兵法、洞察人心的能力以及冷静的判断，在现代职场中破解一个又一个危机。

只是，现代商场的斗争一点也不比古代战场简单。他很快便被卷入林氏家族复杂的权力争夺，而林家大哥林若衡（Ethan）的离奇死亡，也逐渐成为左右整个故事的重要谜团。随着各方势力的野心逐渐浮现，一场横跨千年的斗智较量亦正式展开。

港、新、马演员同台飙戏

《卧龙》集结来自香港、新加坡及马来西亚的演员，包括香港资深演员龔慈恩、香港演员朱鑑然、新加坡实力派演员陈莉萍，以及多位本地演员参与演出。

龔慈恩饰演林氏集团掌权人林敏（Catherine）。Catherine表面上精明能干，同时也是一名顾家的母亲，但骨子里却有着极强的控制欲及戒心。她熟悉商场上的各种手段，对于背叛自己的人更绝不手软，身上带着如曹操般的野心与霸气。

朱鑑然则饰演被诸葛亮魂穿的朱勇鸣（Leon）。穿越后的他继承诸葛亮沉着冷静及足智多谋的一面，也能够迅速观察和分析人心，不过面对现代科技、新时代价值观甚至现代男女关系时，依然会产生不少文化冲击。

童缤毓饰演林家长女林若曦（Grace），是一名高傲、果断并坚持改革企业的完美主义者；张惠虹饰演二女儿林若琪（Elena），温柔亲切的外表之下，却隐藏着对于集团继承权的野心。

至于由黄若熙饰演的小女儿林若昀（Zoey），个性热情直接、容易冲动，但在看似毫无心机的一面背后，同样拥有自己的夺权盘算。

另一名关键人物则是由谢佳见饰演的王翔霖（Sunny）。Sunny后来被三国时期另一名著名谋士周瑜魂穿，与拥有诸葛亮意识的阿鸣形成针锋相对的关系，令两位古代智者在现代商战再次展开较量。

新加坡资深演员陈莉萍则饰演赵太（王颖华）；黄启铭饰演林家长子林若衡（Ethan），他的死亡亦成为全剧其中一条重要悬疑线。

刘界辉则饰演阿鸣从小一起长大的好友兼室友刘小北。他虽然个性随性、没有太大野心，却精通电脑，更总会在好友需要帮助时挺身而出。

朱鑑然戏里诸葛亮 戏外却变“捣蛋鬼”

剧中的朱鑑然拥有诸葛亮般沉稳、睿智的一面，不过一到了镜头之外，却完全是另一回事。记者会上，多位演员不约而同“爆料”，指他其实是剧组里的开心果兼“捣蛋鬼”。童缤毓则笑言，虽然朱鑑然很爱“欺负”大家，但面对几位资深演员时还是会有所收敛。

首次参与马来西亚剧集演出的朱鑑然，为拍摄在大马逗留约两个月，期间更彻底爱上本地美食，尤其对印度煎饼Roti Canai情有独钟，因而被大家笑封为剧组的“Roti Canai大使”。在现场看完第一集后，他也明显放下心头大石，对最终成品相当满意，并公开向导演张顺源表达感谢。

张惠虹为亲密戏考虑良久

久违回归电视剧拍摄的张惠虹，这次也面对一个颇具挑战性的演出。她饰演的Elena与朱鑑然的角色在剧中有一场亲密戏。记者会上，她也幽默形容自己是冒着相当大的“风险”接拍，并笑言自己应该不会让女儿观看有关部分，届时可能直接跳过。

陈沛江相隔多年再与龔慈恩合作

《卧龙》也让不少曾经合作过的演员再次聚首。陈沛江与龔慈恩相隔超过10年再次合作，两人在剧中更安排了一场情绪激烈的争执戏。

周雪婷则分享，自己在剧中有一场戏，对她而言十分难忘。她透露，与朱鑑然演出有关场面时，对方给了她很强的安全感，让她能够更放松地投入情绪。没想到剧中与她饰演一对的刘界辉听到后马上在台上装“吃醋”，令现场顿时笑声不断。

远赴横店拍摄 打造赤壁大战

为了提升剧集古代部分的规模与视觉质感，《卧龙》制作团队特别前往中国横店影视城取景。剧组分别深入军营、草庐及大型战船等不同场景，以实景拍摄方式重现三国时代的氛围。其中，全剧最具规模的场面之一正是“赤壁大战”。

制作团队结合大型实景战船及AI视觉特效，呈现乱世烽火及战争场面的磅礴气势，并让古代战场与现代都市两个截然不同的时代拥有更具电影感的视觉连接。

黄启铭在欣赏首集后也大赞制作团队的用心，不过当看到自己角色的“遗照”被放大投放在现场大银幕时，也忍不住笑说感觉有点吓人。首次执导电视剧的导演张顺源亦对最终成品相当有信心，并透露当时后期剪辑工作已经进行至剧集较后阶段。

刘界辉、黄得昇合唱主题曲《宿敌》

除了故事本身，《卧龙》的音乐同样围绕剧中“棋逢对手”的核心主题打造。剧集主题曲《宿敌》由演员兼歌手刘界辉联同Astro《新秀 崛起吧！2026》冠军Danson黄得昇共同演唱。两人的声线与演唱方式截然不同，却在歌曲中形成相互呼应的效果，为作品加入浓厚的对峙感及戏剧张力。歌曲围绕宿命、竞争、情感以及权力之间的纠缠，也与剧中多个角色既合作又相互角力的关系互相呼应。

《卧龙》9月6日正式首播

从赤壁之战到现代会议室，从千年前的用兵之道到现代企业继承权之争，《卧龙》尝试以不同角度重新包装观众熟悉的三国人物，并将悬疑、家族斗争及职场权谋融入其中。

全剧共13集，将从2026年9月6日起，每逢星期日晚上9时30分播出。
