[Coverage] 4th “Hong Kong Night, Nanyang Love” Charity Concert Raises RM730,000 for Chinese and Special Needs Education

The 4th “Hong Kong Night, Nanyang Love” Charity Concert successfully raised RM730,000 in support of Chinese education and special education initiatives in Malaysia.

Organised by the Malaysia World Chinese Merchants Union Association, the fundraising concert brought together members of the business community, philanthropists, corporate supporters and entertainment personalities for an evening dedicated to music, education and charitable giving.

The concert featured performances by Hong Kong artistes Michael Dao, Elaine Yiu, Hera Chan, Keith Mok, Penny Chan and Adrian Chau. Malaysia-born actress Angie Cheong also made a special guest appearance, adding another highlight to the star-studded evening.

Contributions from generous individuals and corporate supporters helped the event achieve its fundraising target, reflecting the strong support shown towards education and community-based initiatives.

Michael Dao Energises the Crowd

Michael Dao emerged as one of the evening’s biggest crowd favourites with his energetic stage presence and lively interaction with concertgoers.

Throughout his performance, he encouraged the audience to sing and dance along, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with cheers and applause. Following repeated requests from fans, he returned to the stage for several encore performances.

Speaking after his performance, Michael Dao said he was honoured to participate in an event that promoted education while providing an opportunity to give back to society.

He also expressed hope that the annual charity concert would continue to grow and extend its support to more schools, communities and individuals in need in the years ahead.

Keith Mok and Penny Chan Deliver Surprise Duet

Keith Mok entertained the audience with a selection of familiar Cantonese classics before joining Penny Chan for a surprise duet. Their unexpected collaboration received warm applause from concertgoers and became one of the memorable moments of the evening.

Adrian Chau also kept the audience engaged throughout his performance through close interaction with fans, creating a warm connection between the artistes and those in attendance.

Artistes Show Their Support for Education

Hera Chan thanked the organisers for giving her the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful charitable initiative through music. She said she was pleased to be part of an event that supported education while bringing together different members of the community for a worthy cause.

Elaine Yiu shared that the concert carried special significance because the funds raised would benefit both Chinese education and special needs education programmes in Malaysia.

She added that she looked forward to taking part in similar charitable initiatives in the future and continuing to support causes that create a positive impact on society.

Malaysia-born actress Angie Cheong made a special guest appearance during the event, delighting concertgoers and adding another memorable moment to the evening.

Uniting Different Sectors for a Meaningful Cause

Beyond providing an entertaining evening for fans, the annual charity concert serves as a platform that connects the business community, philanthropists, corporate organisations and members of the entertainment industry.

Through their collective support, the organisers aim to raise funds for educational initiatives while increasing public awareness of the needs faced by Chinese schools, special needs education programmes and communities requiring additional assistance.

The RM730,000 raised during this year’s concert marked another encouraging achievement for the initiative.

The successful fundraising effort also demonstrated how music, generosity and community spirit can come together to create a meaningful and lasting impact.
