KUALA LUMPUR, 2025 – The Japan Expo Malaysia 2025 (JEMY 2025), held from 18th to 20th July 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), concluded its sixth and most dynamic edition to date, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of over 70,000 visitors and featuring more than 80 exhibitors from Japan and Malaysia. This year’s JEMY introduced an elevated structure, offering visitors a richer and more curated experience by dividing the expo into two key thematic zones:

Exhibition Zone 

Designed as a comprehensive gateway into Japanese culture, this area was accessible to the public via online or onsite registration and featured:

Taste of Japan Pavilion – Visitors enjoyed live sushi-making demonstrations by renowned local chefs, showcasing the delicacy and precision of Japanese cuisine.

Workshops – Ranging from origami sessions to sake-tasting experiences and omakase talks, these were supported by the Embassy of Japan and conducted by cultural practitioners.

Cultural Performances – Spectators were treated to Kendo martial arts showcases, the traditional Awa Odori dance, Japanese opera, and more.

Tourism & Education Booths – Representatives from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) and several Japanese academic institutions guided visitors on travel and study opportunities in Japan.

Entertainment Zone – Ticketed Entry (RM25–RM40)

The Entertainment Zone was the energetic epicenter of JEMY 2025. With ticket prices ranging from RM25 to RM40, visitors gained access to:

Live concerts, performances, and exclusive fan content.

Top-tier Japanese and Malaysian talents, including: 

Manaka Inaba – Famous J-Pop idol. 

Leon Niihama – Acclaimed Enka singer known for his work on the Detective Conan anime soundtrack. 

Wannabees – Popular Japanese comedy trio.

KLP48 – Malaysia’s own J-Pop girl group, drawing roaring support.

Kyoto Protocol – Veteran Malaysian rock band.

DJ Blink and others – Providing beats that kept the crowd grooving.

Fans also enjoyed anime booths, cosplay showcases, exclusive merchandise, and meet-and-greet sessions with beloved creators and performers.

Business, Innovation & Cultural Diplomacy Take Center Stage

JEMY 2025 was more than just an entertainment event—it was a strategic platform for business, trade, and cross-cultural engagement. Numerous companies launched new products, conducted brand testing, and connected with both local and Japanese partners.

This year’s expo saw an estimated RM8 million in transaction value generated through exhibitions, sales, and deals—further strengthening Japan-Malaysia economic ties. Japan has remained Malaysia’s fourth-largest trading partner as of 2023.

A major milestone for JEMY 2025 was the debut of the Japan Expo Malaysia Award—a prestigious recognition celebrating individuals and organizations contributing significantly to the promotion of Japanese culture, creativity, innovation, and industry in Malaysia.
