[Local Entertainment] ASTRO ORIGINALS PRESENTS 'LIAR,' A BAFTA NOMINEE UK THRILLER SERIES

Kuala Lumpur, March 2023 - Following the phenomenal success of High Council, Astro Originals expands its brand with the release of LIAR, an adaptation of the BAFTA-nominated thriller series and British Screenwriters' Award winner.

Astro Shaw produced Liar in collaboration with Double Vision and All3Media International. Liar is a gripping thriller that was originally produced by Two Brothers Pictures (an All3Media company) in 2017. It explores themes such as gender stereotypes in the modern age, family, deception, and misunderstanding. The outstanding series drew a peak audience of 7 million viewers, making it the most-watched new drama on ITV since 2014. Liar was also broadcast in Australia and New Zealand. The series will also be adapted in Spanish as 'Mentiras' in 2020, as well as in German as 'Du Sollst Nicht Lügen' and in France, Italy, and Turkey.

The drama drew a large fanbase who would patiently wait for the next episode to be released because of its riveting plot twists and intriguing characters. Liar is about two people who are forced to face the consequences of their actions after an unfortunate incident. One deceived the other, but lies cover up the truth because of power.

Tiz Zaqyah, Tony Eusoff, Ezzaty Abdullah, Dato' Jalaluddin Hassan, Wan Raja, Nadiya Nisaa, Atilia Haron, Nazrief Nazri, Haridhass Selvaraju, Naz Rahman, Nas-T, Aniq Suhair, Farah Ahmad, Joyce Harn, and Charles Roberts star in Liar. Jason Chong, Imri Nasution, and Lim Siu Min are the directors.

Beginning 25^th March 2023, the one-hour drama will air every Saturday at midnight on On Demand. Viewers can also catch it on Astro Ria every Monday night at 9 p.m. beginning 3^rd April 2023.

Two perspectives, one truth. Lara Sulaiman is a dedicated and bright teacher in the film Liar. Lara attempts to move on after divorcing her husband and begins dating. This is when Lara meets Aiman Yusuf, a surgeon who has also experienced difficult times in his life. They are both at ease with each other. Their first date, however, quickly turns into a nightmare when Lara accuses Aiman of rape. Aiman insists that he had nothing to do with it and was only trying to help Lara. Who is the liar between the two? Liar demonstrates how lies ruin the lives of not only Lara and Aiman, but also their friends and families.

Liar will premiere on Saturday, 25th March 2023, at 12 a.m. on Astro GO or On Demand. Liar will also be broadcast on Astro Ria, channel 104, every Monday at 9 p.m. beginning on 3rd April 2023.
