[Concert Coverage] 2025 IRENE & SEULGI Concert Tour [BALANCE] in Kuala Lumpur
KUALA LUMPUR, 2025 – Red Velvet’s beloved subunit Irene & Seulgi finally made their long-awaited return to Malaysian shores with the 2025 “BALANCE” World Tour, taking center stage at Mega Star Arena, Kuala Lumpur on 13th September 2025 (Saturday). Presented by FriedRice Entertainment and ACO MEDIA, the show was a massive success, bringing an unforgettable afternoon of music, passion, and powerful fan connections. For the passionate Malaysian ReVeluvs, this concert was more than just a performance — it was a reunion, a celebration, and an emotional moment in history. It marked the first time Irene & Seulgi performed a full solo concert as a duo in Malaysia, and the first time they returned since Red Velvet’s last visit in 2017.
The concert began sharply at 3:00PM, a punctuality that fans deeply appreciated. The atmosphere inside the venue was electric the moment the opening VCR played on the big screens, setting a mysterious yet elegant tone. The footage cleverly introduced the concept of “Balance” through symbolic visuals that explored opposites — light and shadow, motion and stillness, fire and water — preparing the audience for the dual dynamic that defines Irene & Seulgi. As the screens faded to black, bright lasers flashed across the stage and the duo made their grand entrance. The crowd erupted as the first notes of “TILT” played, followed by “Feel Good” and “Trampoline”, setting a strong and energetic start to the show.
What followed was a masterclass in stage production and emotional connection. The concert was thoughtfully crafted not just as a series of songs, but as a complete visual and thematic journey. The costumes, staging, lighting, and choreography all reinforced the theme of duality and harmony. Irene’s graceful charm paired beautifully with Seulgi’s intensity, creating a contrast that felt powerful yet balanced.
Throughout the show, Irene and Seulgi took moments to connect directly with the audience. They greeted the fans warmly with “Apa Khabar, Malaysia?” and expressed how excited they were to return after eight long years. The cheers from fans filled the arena as the duo reminisced about their past visit and shared their current emotions. Seulgi candidly said that she “loved the vibes in Malaysia so much she didn’t feel like going back”, drawing laughter from the crowd, while Irene jokingly responded, “I will go back.” Fans also called out for them to try local delicacies, with “Durian” being the loudest suggestion — a moment that sparked playful reactions from both.
Solo performances offered a deeper look into each artist’s individuality. Seulgi’s solo segment was intense and expressive, featuring songs like “Praying,” “Dead Man Runnin’,” “Rollin’ (With My Homies),” and “Better Dayz”. Each performance displayed her powerful vocals and emotionally driven dance style. Irene followed with a softer, more whimsical solo section, performing “Strawberry Silhouette,” “Calling Me Back,” “Ka-Ching,” and “Start Line.” Her stage presence brought a dreamy atmosphere to the arena, supported by flowing visuals and ambient lighting.
One standout performance was “Monster”, their debut subunit track. Seeing it performed live was surreal. The choreography was hypnotic and dramatic, showcasing their synergy and artistic growth. As the haunting beats filled the venue, the crowd responded with roaring cheers, fully immersed in the moment.
Another of the night’s most unforgettable moments came during the performance of “Jelly”, when Irene and Seulgi stepped down from the stage and walked along the seatings to greet fans up close. The arena was filled with screams of joy as fans waved, cried, and captured the moment on their phones. It was an intimate experience in a large-scale setting, and undoubtedly one of the emotional peaks of the night.
The energy only escalated during the encore. There was a high-spirited performance of “Hit That Drum”, which turned the arena into a lively party. Then came an extended version of “Zimzalabim”, where the duo invited fans to stand and dance along. With each round of “Zimzalabim”, backup dancers playfully showered Irene and Seulgi with confetti, causing laughter from both the idols and the audience. The interaction was spontaneous and genuine, making it a highlight of the entire tour.
Before the final goodbye, Irene and Seulgi asked the audience what encore songs they wanted to hear. Fans shouted their favourites, and eventually, the concert concluded with Red Velvet’s beloved hits “Red Flavor” and “Power Up”.
These cheerful anthems lifted the mood to its peak and brought everyone together in a final burst of joy, lightsticks waving and voices uniting for one last singalong.
As the lights dimmed and the duo waved their final goodbye, fans were left with hearts full of emotion. The Kuala Lumpur stop of the BALANCE tour was more than just a concert — it was a powerful reminder of Irene & Seulgi’s enduring presence in K-pop and their heartfelt connection with fans in Malaysia.
