Kuala Lumpur, 2025 – Astro Originals has officially commenced filming for its latest high-impact drama “The Exiled”《義和》, a Malaysia-Hong Kong co-production starring Ali Lee (李佳芯) and Lai Lok-Yi (黎诺懿). This marks the duo’s long-awaited reunion since their 2018 hit Who Wants A Baby? (《BB来了》), and this time, they step into the world of gangland power struggles as a mob boss and his commanding wife.

Dynamic Duo Reunites in Fierce New Roles

Both leads attended the lensing ceremony alongside the ensemble cast, offering prayers for smooth filming and stellar ratings. Ali Lee, who left TVB in 2023, expressed how excited she is to work with Malaysian team in this production.

“Malaysian productions are wonderfully diverse. I get to work with talents from different countries and explore topics I truly enjoy,” she shared.

Ali plays a fierce gangster’s wife – a drastic shift from her usual “tough career woman” roles. “They call me ‘Big Sister Bing’ in this role, and I have to walk with power and presence. It’s a totally different vibe, and I’m excited for the audience to meet a new version of me,” said Lee.

Action-Packed Production & Dual-Language Challenge

Lai Lok-Yi revealed that out of five shooting days, three involved intense action scenes. With movie-level filming techniques, including single-shot fight sequences, he praised co-star Eric Chen (陈沛江) for his professional martial arts, saying he didn’t dare “slack off” when acting with him.

Ali Lee also tackled a new challenge—delivering lines in both Cantonese and Mandarin. While confident in conversational Mandarin, she admitted acting in it proved more complex, especially hitting the right tones. “Why can’t I get the fourth tone right?!” she laughed. “The director had to guide me a lot.”

Meanwhile, Lai Lok-Yi’s own attempts at Mandarin brought laughs when he mixed up phrases. He added: “I thought I’d try doing some Mandarin lines… but I chickened out. Didn't want to turn this gangster series into a comedy!”

All-Star Malaysian Cast Joins the Battle

“The Exiled”《義和》 is helmed by acclaimed director Teng Bee (马逸腾), best known for his gritty and cinematic Kepong film series. This latest project brings together an impressive ensemble cast from both Malaysia and Hong Kong, creating a dynamic cross-border collaboration. Among the leads is Henley Hii (许亮宇), making a powerful return to the gangster genre after more than a decade, portraying a role filled with emotional intensity. Alvin Wong (王麒竣) makes a bold visual statement with his fiery red hair, perfectly matching his character’s spirited edge. Elyn Leong (梁愉苓), currently active as a member of a girl group, expressed her delight at being able to continue her music career while also embracing her acting roots in this series. Meanwhile, Kimmy Low (刘芷希), who previously worked in Hong Kong, shared her excitement about reconnecting with Hong Kong actors in a local production. The series’ action scenes are bolstered by Eric Chen (陈沛江), whose commanding fight sequences have earned praise from his co-stars. Completing the dynamic supporting lineup are Eric Lay (赖宏恩), Shir Chong (张嘉汶), Tedd Chan (曾国辉), Li Yang Tan (陈立扬), and Ash Lu (卢信宥), each contributing to the depth and layered storytelling of The Exiled《義和》.

Emotional Weight and Real-Life Impact

Henley Hii, who plays "Ah Keong", shared that the emotionally charged role left him mentally drained even after filming. He thanked his wife for her patience: “The role is impulsive, hot-headed—completely opposite of me. I became less patient even at home, and I truly appreciate my wife for understanding.”

Other cast members echoed the unique experience of filming in KL’s heat while dressed in leather and suits. Lai Lok-Yi joked: “We wore too many layers. In indoor fight scenes, it almost felt like we were out of breath.” He reassured everyone that safety was top-notch: “Our crew is extremely professional. No worries about accidents!”

When Ali was asked on whether she hopes to win Best Actress again, Ali blushed, but Lai jumped in: “Women around me always win awards! I’m the ‘Best Actress Charm’. I hope this series helps her win big and go international!” On whether she might sing the drama’s theme song, Lai again answered for her:

“She sings so well! This drama must let her sing the theme!”

Producer 李治成 confirmed Lai was instrumental in pulling the cast together, especially introducing Ali to the project—truly a friendship built on loyalty. After filming, Lai plans to spend time with his family during his son’s school holiday, while Ali is focusing entirely on completing the shoot for now.

开镜仪式在吉隆坡举行，主演与众多演员现身拜神祈福，盼剧集收视长红。李佳芯自离开TVB后首次拍剧，她坦言能在马来西亚拍摄是非常珍贵的体验。 “马来西亚剧集题材多元，可以跟不同国家的演员合作，是很难得的机会。” 这次她饰演江湖大嫂“冰姐”，气势与过往职场女强人角色截然不同。“这次真的不一样，连走路都要霸气，观众会看到一个全新的我。”

打戏连连! 挑战双语对白！

黎诺懿爆料，五天拍摄中已有三天是动作戏。这部剧以电影规格拍摄，打斗画面一镜到底，他大赞陈沛江拳脚有力，让他不敢“揸流摊”。

李佳芯首次挑战粤语与华语对白，坦言对白讲起来比日常聊天困难，尤其是“第四声”。

“讲对白真的很难，为什么第四音总是讲不好？” 黎诺懿更因搞笑“港普”频频出错，将“我是最大的”说成“我是最呆的”，笑翻全场：“原本想挑战讲华语，但怕会把江湖剧拍成喜剧！”

星光熠熠的马来西亚卡司阵容

《義和》由曾执导《甲洞》系列的知名导演马逸腾掌镜，以其一贯的写实风格与电影质感打造这部江湖题材新剧。本剧集聚了马来西亚与香港的强劲卡司，展开一场跨地域的精彩合作。主演之一许亮宇睽违多年再度挑战黑帮题材，饰演一位情绪张力十足的角色，诠释层次丰富。王麒竣则以抢眼的红发造型亮相，为角色增添一抹火爆气息。Elyn梁愉苓坦言非常开心能在持续音乐事业的同时，再次投身演艺工作，享受演戏带来的成就感。曾于香港发展的刘芷希也表示很高兴能够再次与香港演员合作，感受到熟悉又亲切的氛围。此外，还有赖宏恩 、Shir张嘉汶、曾国辉、陈立扬与卢信宥等实力派演员共同参与，为《義和》增添多元层次，使整部剧更具张力与厚度。

Henley Hii飾演的“阿強”情緒張力十足，他透露角色與現實性格反差大，甚至影響日常生活。“這段時間回到家也沒耐性，感謝太太的理解和支持。”

演員們在吉隆坡高溫下身穿皮衣拍攝，仍全力以赴。黎諾懿笑說：

“穿很多層衣服拍室內動作戲真的有點缺氧。但我們的團隊非常專業，請放心。”

獎項預告? 主題曲安排？

談到是否有信心再奪視后，Ali Lee還未答，Lai Lok-Yi馬上搶答： “我出名是‘視后藥’，合作過的女演員都拿獎！希望這次Ali也能衝出國際！” 而對是否演唱主題曲的問題，黎諾懿再次“打Call”：“她唱歌很好聽！這部劇一定要讓她來唱主題曲！”

監製李治成也透露，這次合作確實是黎諾懿一手牽線促成，情誼滿滿！劇集拍攝結束後，黎諾懿計劃陪伴家人度過兒子假期，Ali則表示將專注完成本劇，暫未有其他安排。
