[Concert Coverage] Sungei Wang 40th Anniversary Live Concert

Kuala Lumpur, December 2017 – Last month, the famous shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, Sungei Wang has celebrated its 40th Anniversary with an outdoor Live Concert which was graced by the presence of 40 artistes and performers. 40 Years of Glory! Many Memories and Evolution throughout the years!
Opening its doors since 1977, Sungei Wang is without any doubt the icon for fashion trends and local Malaysian brands! It is also an epicentre of the ‘La La Culture’ in the late 70s and 80s.

There was even a popular phrase in the 80s for the tourists who visited Kuala Lumpur, ‘If you have not been to Sungei Wang, you have not been to KL’!

On the 18 May this year, YB Dato’s Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Nazri, Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia kicked off the 40th anniversary celebration and officiated the next evolution of Sungei Wang. New brand new logo for Sungei Wang was introduced but yet embodying the spirit of Sungei Wang’s legacy!

Over the 40 years, many evolutions and upgrades have occurred in Sungai Wang, making it an even more exciting place to visit to!

Sungei Wang 40th Anniversary Live Concert!
An outdoor LIVE Concert was held on 11th November 2017 as the grand finale of Sungei Wang’s 40th Anniversary Celebration. The concert featured the performance by 40 local artistes and performers! They ranged from family band to local renowned rock band, Malaysia’s new idol from popular reality TV Shows to well known duos and singers, dance group champions and etc.

The concert was hosted by MY FM DJ Emely Phoon & Phei Yong. The concert kicked off with Red Lycans’ (Astro Battleground 2016 Champion) performance with the upbeat dance and heated up the atmosphere. It was then followed by Korean songs covers by KPOP Vocal Champion, Erul Samah.

Malaysian Girls Group, Muse Girls also melted the audiences’ heart with their latest songs. We also get to see first runner up of China reality show, Meer Nash performing a Malay as well as a Mandarin song to showcase his singing skills to the crowds.

The show was also infused with some KPOP Dance Cover by Firex, Champion of Get Krazy KPOP. In addition to that, Kozyy Band, a family rock band surprised the audiences with their melodic and spectacular performances.

The peaks of the show would be during the performances by a few of the popular duos and singers in Malaysia including the sibling celebrities Nick Chung and Stella Chung, rock band Mad August, Asia little diva Jeryl Lee 李佩玲 and Mandarin Pop Duo FS (Fuying and Sam). All of them mesmerized the audiences with their prominent songs and their great vocals!

Star-studded Cake Cutting Ceremony!
Besides performances, there was also a cake cutting ceremony for Sungei Wang’s 40th Anniversary whereby all of the performers and Sungei Wang’s management were invited to stage for a grand cake cutting ceremony!
