[Movie Review] Into The Storm

[Movie Review] Into The Storm
Introduction

An unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes suddenly ravaged the town of Silverton. The town is at the mercy of deadly cyclones, even as storm-trackers anticipated the worst is yet to come. Everyone has different reactions in this scenario, some seek shelter while some run towards the vortex for once-in-a-lifetime shot.

The Good:
  • "Into The Storm " allow you to witness the terror of tornadoes via the eyes and lens of the characters in the movie such as via the view of professional storm-trackers, normal citizens and thrill-seeking adventure. (like in first-person shooter games).
  • Educational as they introduce to us on how the storm-trackers do their work. The film even has an introductory footage of “Titus”, a tank-like vehicle which allows the storm-trackers to stay firm on the ground when the tornado strikes.
  • Great vision of the devastation caused by the disaster.
  • Decent CGI graphics and sound effects. The Sound Effects are so good that it actually make the theatre seats tremble during the scenes that involve cyclones coming towards the human characters.
  • Meaningful messages delivered via this film such as family bonding, how we should tackle the disaster, the importance of appreciating our life and etc.

The Bad:
  • Highly predictable plot whereby you can foresee what is going to happen in the next scene.
  • Inconsistent pacing. First 15-20 minutes is a bit dull, it gets interesting once the storm strikes the town. The intense tornado scenes are occasionally interrupted by flat scene between young child and his love interest.
  • Poor character development. You don’t feel too emotionally attached to the human characters.
  • Forgettable acting performances in overall.

What can you expect from the movie?
You can witness the power of Mother Nature from unique and different vantage points! You will enjoy the movie if you love disaster movie!

Verdict:
This movie deserves a 7.0/10.0!
