[Interview article] Interview with Edwin Siu 萧正楠 During 8TV's Best of Local Event 2025

Puchong, 2025 - Edwin Siu 萧正楠, who welcomed his first child with wife Priscilla Wong 黃翠如 in March 2025, couldn’t hide his joy when talking about his baby boy, lovingly nicknamed "Siu Haha". This marks Edwin’s first trip away from home since becoming a father, spending around ten days in Malaysia filming 8TV’s "Best of Local" (8TV《原创最霸》). "I miss him a lot," he admitted with a smile, "I have to go back and win him over again, haha!"

Taking over the role of judge in the sixth season of the family-themed singing competition "Family Singing Show" (8TV《好聽Family》), previously held by his wife in Season 3, Edwin shared that it was Priscilla who encouraged him to join the show. "She wanted me to feel the warmth and emotion brought by Malaysian families, and to learn how to become a good dad," he said.

A Father’s Reflection 

Edwin also became emotional when recalling his late father who passed away 20 years ago. "He left during the lowest point in my life. I’ve worked hard ever since, and now I have a fulfilling career and family. I just wish I could tell him he’s now a grandfather." Reminiscing on childhood memories, Edwin described how his father’s only form of entertainment was spending time with his children. "He took us to movies and parks. I hope to pass that same love to my son."

Dad Duties & Funny Moments 

Although away from home, Edwin keeps a close eye on his wife and baby via home CCTV. He joked that he used to prep meals in advance for Priscilla before traveling, treating her like a "half daughter." But now, he proudly noted her growth since becoming a mother. "She even knows how to order food delivery now, haha!" he chuckled, adding that she’d rather spend all her time with their son.

When asked who the baby resembles more, Edwin beamed, "From below looking up, he looks like me. From above looking down, he’s a mini Priscilla!" He also self-proclaimed to be the "King of Burping," excelling at patting the baby to help with burping. Meanwhile, Priscilla enjoys nursing as it lets her cuddle their son and feel his dependence.

Challenges of Parenthood & Father’s Day Wishes 

Edwin shared that their son tends to get fussy at sunset no matter what they try. "It’s like a relay between me and Priscilla, passing the baby back and forth." Although he regrets not being able to celebrate his first Father’s Day due to filming, Edwin says he’s just happy to be a dad. "I don’t need cake. I’m the one feeding the baby anyway, haha! There will be many Father’s Days ahead."

萧正楠与太太黄翠如在今年3月迎来宝贝儿子“萧哈哈”，谈起儿子时露出慈父笑容，难掩幸福之情。这是他当爸爸后首次离家来马工作，他笑说：“真的很想念他，回去要加把势，把他‘霸’回来！”

他此次来马担任8TV《好听Family》第六季评审，与曾是第三季评审的太太接力。他表示是受到太太的鼓励，“她希望我可以感受大马家庭的温暖与感动，也能从中学习成为一个好爸爸。”

谈及已故父亲，萧正楠坦言：“父亲在我最低潮的时候离世，这些年来我努力生活，如今事业与家庭都美满，很想让他知道他已经当爷爷了。”他忆述童年时光，父亲常陪他和妹妹看戏、去公园，“我希望能把父亲的爱延续给我的儿子。”

虽人在海外，但萧正楠表示机不离身，经常查看家中CCTV。他笑称以往出门前会预先准备食物，把老婆当“半个女儿”照顾。但他也赞黄翠如当妈妈后成长很多，“她现在连怎么叫外卖都学会了，哈哈！”还说黄翠如得儿后想把时间都留给儿子。

谈及儿子像谁，他笑说：“从下往上看像我，从上往下看像迷你版黄翠如！”他自封“扫风之王”，最享受就是帮儿子打嗝。老婆黄翠如则喜欢喂奶时光，因为可以抱着孩子，享受被依赖的感觉。

父亲节期间，他虽因录影无法与家人庆祝，但仍享受这个“新身份”，笑说：“以后还有很多个父亲节可以过。”
