[Coverage] Sì Sì Nán Cūn (四四南村)  Opens Its 7th Malaysian Flagship Store with ASEAN Record Honor “One Night in Taipei” Celebrates Taiwanese Culinary Heritage

Kuala Lumpur, 2025 Renowned Taiwanese dining brand Sì Sì Nán Cūn (四四南村) marked a major milestone with the grand opening of its 7th Malaysian outlet at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, ushering in a bold new chapter for the brand. Hosted under the theme “One Night in Taipei”, the event combined food, culture, and nostalgia, and was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, media, and fans of authentic Taiwanese cuisine.

The flagship opening also celebrated an extraordinary recognition — Sì Sì Nán Cūn has officially been awarded by ASEAN Records as: “The First Taiwanese Restaurant in Southeast Asia to Offer an Award-Winning Braised Pork Rice in a Military Village-Style Set Meal.”

This honour was presented live during the ceremony by ASEAN Records adding a prestigious mark to the already celebratory evening.

A Tribute to Taiwan’s Military Village Legacy

Founded by Taiwan-Malaysia entrepreneur Hung Ching Wei, Sì Sì Nán Cūn was born from a heartfelt desire to share the flavours of home-style Taiwanese dishes, especially the kind that mothers in military villages would cook for their families. The restaurant name “Sì Sì Nán Cūn” is directly inspired by Taipei’s first military village, originally built for soldiers and their families near the 44th Arsenal Factory. These communities featured rows of fishbone-style buildings known for their tight-knit bonds and rich culinary traditions.

That legacy lives on in the restaurant’s iconic military village-style set meal, headlined by its award-winning Braised Pork Rice (滷肉飯), accompanied by hand-crafted side dishes, nostalgic décor, and elements such as a central lime-plastered column representing the village’s architectural heritage.

A Bold New Concept Store with Modern Touches

While staying true to its roots, the new Pavilion Bukit Jalil flagship also marks Sì Sì Nán Cūn’s first concept store, offering a refreshed, contemporary take on Taiwanese dining. The interior design blends vintage military village themes with modern aesthetics, creating a vibrant space for both long-time fans and curious new diners.

The upgraded menu at the flagship location introduces exclusive Taiwanese dishes, desserts, and specialty coffees, making it a must-visit destination for those longing for a true taste of Taiwan—especially with travel still limited for some. From the iconic rice bowls to nostalgic sweet treats, it’s a full-on culinary journey right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

A Night of Cultural Pride and Celebrity Support

The “One Night in Taipei” event was more than just a restaurant opening—it was a cultural celebration, complete with live entertainment, thematic decorations, and immersive storytelling. The atmosphere transported guests to the bustling night markets and cozy alleyways of old Taipei.

Adding a touch of star power, award-winning Malaysian actress Angelica Lee Sin Je joined the celebration later in the evening, showing her support for the brand and delighting fans with her presence.

Founder’s Message: Food as a Cultural Bridge

“We’re incredibly honoured to receive the ASEAN Record and proud to open our seventh outlet in Malaysia,” shared founder 洪庆玮. “More than just food, we want to share stories, memories, and the warmth of a Taiwanese home. This is our way of introducing Taiwan’s rich culture to Malaysia and the region.”

With ambitious expansion plans and a growing fanbase, Sì Sì Nán Cūn is set to become a cornerstone of cultural dining experiences throughout Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Bhd.
