Sabah Comics & Creative 2024: A Celebration of Local Talent and Creativity



Kota Kinabalu, 2024 – In Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, the Sabah Comics and Creatives (SCC) event recently wrapped up its highly anticipated two-day celebration on 3rd February 2024 and 4th February 2024 at Palm Square, Centre Point Sabah Shopping Mall. Supported by sponsors such as HUION Global, Sakura Color Japan (Malaysia), and G'soft, and with additional backing from Centre Point Sabah and Sushi King, the event was a tremendous success, drawing in over 500 attendees. The event showcased the vibrant talents of Sabah's comic artists, doujins, and creative minds, highlighting the rich creative culture of the region.


For its debut, SCC featured an impressive array of local guest artists, including notable figures like Kendylife, Yu Zhen Illustration, Aks Kwan, Robertson Jr Sondoh, and Kartunis Bijai. These artists enchanted the attendees with their unique styles and imaginative works, adding to the dynamic atmosphere of the event.




















Attendees had the chance to explore a wide range of booths offering captivating artworks, comics, commission services, merchandise, crafts, and stationery from Sabahan artists, providing a comprehensive showcase of the region's creative capabilities. The event also included engaging activities for art enthusiasts, such as enlightening artist panel discussions, a public LUKIS BAH ARTJAM session facilitated by Sakura Color Malaysia and G'soft, and a HUION Tablet Demonstration area. These interactive sessions allowed attendees to dive into the creative process and gain insights from industry experts. Additionally, the event featured over 25 contestants in the Mascot Design Contest sponsored by HUION Global. Among them, Pamela Princess Ng (Morihime) was awarded second runner-up, Hazel (Zelzeka) secured the first runner-up position, and Ahmad Rizal Bin Romli emerged as the grand prize winner, showcasing exceptional talent and creativity in mascot design.










The overwhelming response to the Sabah Comics & Creative event was exhilarating, and organizers hope it will continue to capture the imagination and support of the community, fostering a thriving environment for local talent and creativity in the arts.
