Kuala Lumpur, 2023 – Soo Wincci’s original Chinese drama The Queen's Ploy《诈骗女皇》reveals the greed and dark side of human nature. The story revolves around a common market vendor, Xu 许芳华 (played by Soo Wincci), who is a helpful single mother. To assist her friend Liu 刘丽芬 (played by Yise) who fell victim to a scam, she gets involved in a scam that results in her losing her daughter Shen 沈嘉雯 (played by Joey Leong) scholarship fund. In a world filled with greed and deceit, she encounters Chai 博士蔡子博 (played by Jack Lim) and her former friend Shi 石美仪 (played by Shir), ultimately leading her down the path of deception. Meanwhile, Shen’s life takes a turn after meeting the wealthy second-generation Sean (played by Kryston), becoming ensnared in another scam.

"The Queen's Ploy" employs a realistic approach in presenting various scenes, including the marketplace and daily life in the neighborhood, faithfully depicting various fraudulent situations, accidents, leaps, and intense physical confrontations.

Soo Wincci portrays Xu, a single mother, for the first time in the series. She plays the role of a woman who transforms from a kind-hearted market vendor to a ruthless "Queen of Ploy" as the story progresses. Additionally, she has two romantic storylines in the series—one with Chai, portrayed by Jack Lim, where they support each other, and another involving steamy scenes with the younger actor Daniel.

Jack Lim who plays Chai has multiple identities in the series and excels at understanding human nature. He operates behind the scenes, assisting Xu in delving deeper into the world of scams. He also engages in an exciting physical confrontation with Wayne, leading him to exclaim that he couldn't handle it after returning to television dramas following a ten-year hiatus.

Joey Leong takes on the role of Shen, a student striving for education and a better life. She has her childhood friend Ma (played by Jordan) by her side, but due to the desire for quick money, she strays off course, even resorting to selling sensuality for rewards on a live streaming platform. Throughout the series, she crosses paths with Sean, sharing numerous intimate scenes, including Kryston's first on-screen kiss. Shen later faces unfortunate circumstances, enduring various setbacks.

Meanwhile, Shen's father, Li (played by Jacky Kam), is a character with a twisted personality. Beneath the facade of a charitable tycoon, he eventually gets entangled in the scam.

Yise, who plays Xu’s close friend Liu, is a love-stricken woman who adores her husband. Her husband, Ah Yong (played by Jonathan Lee), is a gambling addict who loses their assets in underground gambling, putting a strain on her friendship with Xu. Xu's other friend, Shi, who is married to Marcus, played by Wayne Tang, and they share passionate scenes in the series.

The characters in "The Queen's Ploy" prominently showcase their darker or imperfect sides, with the drama aiming to convey the message to the audience that "greed is the root of deception." While the series does not directly educate viewers on how to guard against scams, it continually reminds everyone that scam techniques are diverse and unpredictable. Therefore, it encourages vigilance and heightened awareness to avoid falling into the depths of deception.
