[Concert Coverage] BLACKPINK BORN PINK WORLD TOUR IN KUALA LUMPUR

Kuala Lumpur, March 2023 - BLACKPINK BORN PINK WORLD TOUR IN KUALA LUMPUR took place on 4th March 2023, and fans were excited for the concert because it had been nearly 4 years since BLACKPINK had performed in Malaysia.

Fans began to gather at Stadium Bukit Jalil a day before the concert to purchase BLACKPINK merchandise. Some people have waited in line for nearly 4-5 hours just to get their hands on the very nice BLACKPINK merchandise, which includes hoodies, clear bags, T-shirts, light sticks, and other items. It was raining heavily on this day (the day before the concert), and people began to worry about the weather on the day of the concert.

Another highlight of the day before the concert was the members' arrival at the airport. Because of BLACKPINK's large fanbase in Malaysia, many fans have waited for hours at airports to greet them.

During the concert day, the weather was surprisingly good. Cars and crowds begin packing up at Stadium Bukit Jalil as early as 6 a.m., and parking was fully occupied by 3-4 p.m, with the show beginning at 8 p.m. VIP fans had the opportunity to see BLACKPINK's soundcheck performance first, which was fantastic because they got to see the girls up close and interact with them.

Approximately 62,000 fans rushed in as the gate opened, filling the stadium with PINK OCEAN (due to the light from the official lightstick). BLACKPINK music videos were shown on screen prior to the start of the concert, and BLINKS began to sing along with the songs.

The show began around 8.15 p.m., with BLACKPINK performing the following songs: "How You Like That", "Pretty Savage", "Whistle", "Don't Know What To Do", and "Lovesick Girls".

After this, the members greeted the fans before proceeding with "Kill This Love" and "Crazy over you". They also performed "Playing with Fire," "Tally," and the fan favourite "Pink Venom" after that.

In between performances, there were interlude footages with the members that demonstrated that, aside from being idols, all four of them are also great models. In between the girls' performances, the live band and dancers took the stage for a few moments.

Following that, there were solo performances by Jisoo, who performed "Liar" (a cover of Camilla Cabello's song), Jennie, who performed her concert tour new song presumably titled "You and Me," Rose, who performed "Hard to love" and "On the Ground," and Lisa, who performed "LALISA" and "Money"!

The fans were expecting Jisoo maybe would perform her upcoming solo, but this did not happen. However, everyone was pleased with the girls' performances.

The girls performed "Shut Down," "Typa Girl," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," and "Forever Young" in the show's final act. Flames and fireworks were among the practical effects used in the concert. They left the stage after this series of songs.

The over 62,000 people in attendance cheered for an encore, and BLACKPINK did not disappoint the BLINKS. Although there was an initial plan for BLINKs to sing "Happiest Girl," replacing "Girl" with "BLINK" during the encore, it did not happen but the message from the Malaysian BLINKS was delivered to BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK had a photography session on stage with the Malaysian Pink Ocean as background. Then they performed "Yeah Yeah Yeah," "Stay," and "As If It's Your Last" as encores for the fans.

For the BLINKs, it was a night to remember. (Especially our chief editor WLJack, who is one of Malaysia's biggest BLACKPINK fans.)
